Du Xiuli, Professor, Doctoral Supervisor, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Distinguished Researcher of the Institute of Engineering Mechanics (IEM) , Editorial Board Member and Responsible Executive Editor of SCI&EI indexed Journal "Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration "，Vice President of Beijing University of Technology.

Professor Du has been dedicated to the research of earthquake engineering, and has made outstanding contributions in the following research fields.

(1)Fundamental theories and methods in the simulation of strong seismic ground motion and estimation of design ground motion, structural dynamics and wave mechanics, structure-foundation dynamic interaction analysis, nonlinear static and dynamic characteristics of geotechnical materials and reinforced concrete components, etc.

(2)Solving critical technical problems in the seismic design of large structures such as high dams, nuclear power plants, bridge structures and underground structures by engineering application of those fundamental theories and methods.

Professor Du has been the principal investigator of five national-level research projects, such as the project supported by the Major Research Plan Integration and the project of Innovative Group under the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Key Basic Research Program (973 Program) and the National Science and Technology Support Program under the Ministry of National Science and Technology, and nearly 100 other research and engineering projects.

Professor Du has been awarded five second-class prizes of National Science and Technology Progress Award (ranking first in two of five prizes and third for the rest), and four first-class prizes of provincial-level Science and Technology Award (ranking first in two prizes).
